The Sunday morning F1 racing league produced another classic arse and Elbow trick as they gave Cawood 14 games to play in April with most players actually playing 17 games due to Saturday commitments as well.
To cut it short, it's been a disaster as they only took 2 points from the lot!! Going into the mental spell of night games, Cawood looked strong for a title charge as they sat 5th in the league having played 6 less than most teams. However after the first week with four games they were down to 9 fit players due in part to a broken hand, twisted ankles and pulled thigh & hamstrings from not having chance to warm up correctly not to mention the fatigue!! This had manager Rawson having to pool all his resources and feilding a whole host of Friends from the local footballing community. A massive thanks goes to various clubs loaning players for midweek games and to those who havent played in months helping us out.
Cawood now finish off the season with the Final of the Junior Trophy and have a fully fit squad to select from. They will take on newly crowned division 3 champions Enterprise and will look to take the shine off a very good campaign for the York side.
Player/manager Ben Rawson will then pass over the reigns to a yet to be named suitor for his position as he steps down after 5 years of running the team. It is hoped that the team will go from strength to strength as they have consolidated a position in Division 3 after 3 consecutive promotions.
Cawoods new manager will be named shortly after the cup final. |
