just me giving an honest opinion of the 1st team ,,,and please fire back players and ian if you think im out of order but.....
when just as it seem karts have the advantage to actually take charge of this league rather than chase it they seem to totally crap out against teams they should put away so easily...
do the players really understand what it means to be top team and players in the york and district (massive area ) . or are they just going through the motions as if ///well weve done ok at the end of the season ...
p.s i expect a strong response?????????????? _________________ LADS JUST GO OUT THERE AND BE "SPECIAL" |

Alo, I firmly believe that if I have my first choice starting eleven available every week then we could go very close to winning the league.
Unfortunately that hasnt happened once yet this season so in many ways we should be very pleased to be where we are with Haxby still to play home and away and also Huntington to play again. Dont rule out St Johns either though whilst Old Malton are flying at the moment...and we have to play them both twice. This will be the closest title race for many years, lets hope we are part of it.
Yesterdays game against Malton was a good example of whats happened this season. I named a squad of 16, and was going to have five subs on the bench. By 10am Saturday morning four had cried off for a variety of reasons (although still waiting to hear one of them...) and had to beg players who were not named to help me out, thankfully two did. I arrive at the ground and three players looked dreadful and were coughing and spluttering. I made the decision to start with them as I didnt see them being any use sat on the bench, on reflection that may have been a mistake but I went with the theory that I wanted three fit players on the bench to come on if I needed them not three unfit players who would get worse the longer they sat there. We wouldnt have conceded the goal, in my opinion, with the fit defenders on from the start, so I accept responsibility for that.
As for the league, you know how tough it is competing with York sides plus the two Malton teams. There are three Selby sides in the Premier League and Riccall just below us in the 1st Division all trying to sign the same players. Add to that equation a very good Selby Town Reserve team and its hard to envisage any Selby side ever winning the Premier League, although it does show the strength of football in Selby at the moment (yet how many Selby lads are playing for Selby Town 1st X1....). We gave it a go last season and just fell short and this season looks to be our best chance ever but injuries and other factors keep knocking us back but thats the case with any team in any league.
I will one day tell the tale of the defection of two or three players since the start of the season, that I can 'guarantee', and how losing those players were a big blow to our chances but for now I want to concentrate on the job in hand and the players who have remained with the club. We do have a tendency to play poorly against the bottom sides and I cant put my finger on why but believe me its something we talk about in the changing room and our approach to games doesnt change whatever the opposition, something seems to happen, or not, when they cross the white line....answers on a postcard.
Kartiers teams in the past have been built around a philosophy and mentality of 'running through a brick wall' for me as manager and Kartiers FC as a club and thats something which other clubs have recognised. Unfortunately, I have sensed a change in that attitude throughout the club this season and there is a definite 'them and us' attitude between the two sides at the moment which we need to address or the club could implode.
As long as all the players can, hand on heart, say that they are playing for the club and not themselves....well, I suppose thats a difficult philosophy to have when players pay to play...but its a question I would like to ask of one or two 'players' who are at the club at the moment.
I dont think this forum has helped one bit as certain people appear to be quick to criticise via a keyboard rather than the normal method of airing any grievances with either manager on a face to face basis, I used to enjoy that.....listening to concerns and grievances and then everyone accepting I was right all along....But the 'masses' want a forum so, for now, here it is, but dont expect me to reply to this or any other post as I really dont wish to hang our dirty washing out in public, which unfortunately is what, in a way, I am doing now.
Perhaps I have been guilty of not doing enough to quell that attitude perhaps it's time for a change, perhaps its time for me to get a life.....but I'll do my best to win the league first.
PS. Remember, I hate forums, so rather than reply here, give me a ring or come and see me.
PPS. Have you all sold calendars? Would be nice if you all took away half a dozen to sell, contact me or call in at Cochranes Wharf and ask for some. Its for charity.
PPPS. Willy, you packed me?
PPPPS. Happy New Year....

| kendo sir i would never pack you and if i could i would still run through walls for you, but all i have to do is lean on them now and they fall down. I think you need to make it club policy to make all players have at least 10 pints after each match and have a couple of nice boys in the squad, it never did us any harm. |
