Old Malton res 0 V Kartiers res 5
Having not won in the League for more than two months Caretaker Manger Singh knew it was going to be a tough game against a Old Malton side that had been very successful in recent years. With 48 hours of rain in the area the game was switched from the main pitch to the old pitch sporting a very steep sloop
Previous weeks Hatrick hero Cooper (first team) and 2 goal Bere (Injury) were both unavailable so Singh called up Tessyman to the starting line up and Lucus (s) joined Singh and Taylor (n) on the bench.
The Visitor won the toss and chose to play up the sloping pitch in the first half, But against the elements and the opposition they started the game in positive fashion as both Tessyman and Blackwell came close to opening the scoring. Jennings (a) and Webb were both seeing plenty of the ball, but both were guilty of holding onto it too long early in the game.
The next 20 minutes was less more controlling as the Kartier’s midfield sat back and allowed Old Malton onto them. This cause a certain amount of panic as certain players rushed passes, which in turn allowed the host to take control of the game. At the other end Blackwell and Tessyman were always a threat and the latter opened the scoring after Webb showed great vision to float the ball to Blackwell who held the ball up before releasing Tessyman to score. Buoyed by this goal Kartiers gained more confidence and their lead was soon doubled, when a Brown corner was only half cleared, but Rowley skilfully volleyed home from just outside the area to leave the hapless keeper helpless!!.
Malton rallied and did have a great chance on the stroke of half time to get back in the game, but young keeper Aldridge was alert to turn the effort away as the half time whistle sounded.
The second half was one way traffic as Kartiers played down the slope. The pace of Ward and Brown on either wing caused chaos every time they were realesed, and but for fine keeping by the old Malton keeper , Blackwell would quite easily have had 3 or 4 on another outing.
The unselfish Tessyman who ran himself into the ground was replaced by Taylor (N) and he wasted no time in getting into the action when he tapped in a Blackwell effort after 60 minutes.
Blackwell then got his just deserets as he made it four when he broke the offside trap before passing the ball into a vacant net.
Lucus (s) and Singh then entered the fray and all three subs combined to set Singh free. He lost his marker before calmly beating the keeper at the near post to complete the scoring.
Fisk and Webb were solid all game and cut out any danger to keep Malton at bay!
Man of the match was a tight call with many great performances, but my choice is split between Blackwell and Tessyman, who both showed what they can do paired together.
